Well, I purchased my first ThredUP box a couple of weeks ago and I was super excited. Especially since they are an online thrift store. This could be an alternative to the thrift if you live in an area where they may be scarce. That being said, I think you can never have too many sourcing avenues to help you grow your business or personal closet. Even when you just purchase secondhand!
Since I am pretty active on Instagram, I was somewhat intrigued to buy a mystery rescue box after seeing others post their cute ThredUP boxes once received. In reality, they were probably affiliates or ambassadors so I wasn’t expecting the works on my box. It still feels like a treasure hunt which is the whole point right?
Ready for my honest review? Here we go…
I received my rescue box roughly a week after purchase, may have been a little longer but I don’t remember exactly. On the rescue boxes, they tell you beforehand that there may be a delay due to popularity. The shipping time was very fast and efficient so I was happy about that. I ordered the mixed sizes box with 25 items for $65.00 knowing I would get anything from XXS to 3X. It came in a large brown box neatly folded with a few marketing materials and bubble wrap laid on top ( I knew I wasn’t getting the cute box but I wanted to)…
Now for the items, I received about 50/50 meaning half were sizes XS-XL and the other half was 1X-3X. Sizes for bottoms were different (Example: 18, 20, 22, etc.) Some where in NWT condition and others needed a little TLC due to soil. Brands received included: J.Crew, Banana Republic, LOFT, Forever 21, Karen Scott, Faded Glory and Jennifer Lopez label.
Sizes XS to XL picture showing items that vary from sleeveless lace tops to subtle print joggers. Which were not my size unfortunately. Some of these items will be listed in my Posh Closet this weekend…..
Sizes 1X and up picture showing styles from long sleeve to short sleeve shimmer. I am going to list these in my Posh Closet as well this weekend….
Overall experience? I am happy with my purchase but I will curate my box to specific sizes next time for a greater chance at getting something for myself. It was pretty seamless and processing was fast so that’s good. One thing that was bothersome is that the website moves VERY SLOWLY. It takes a long time to load and that was frustrating. Maybe I’m just impatient I don’t know. I would like to hear your thoughts or experience with ThredUP as well in the comment section. What did you get? Would you order through them again?
